Purpose:
The purpose of the project is the renovation and valorization of the complex of former St Nicholas church and monastery in Zadar with the aim of expanding the number of new employees in the tourism sector and increasing the expected number of cultural heritage visitors. The project will ensure the renovation of existing and construction of new premises of the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar (ICUA Zadar). They will be equipped and addapted to new contents with the purpose of improving the cultural, educational and scientific segment of the Centre and enforcing other necessary activities (requiring external expertise, generating publicity and increasing visibility). The project implementation will contribute to sustainable tourism and economic growth through the valorization of cultural heritage.
Activities:
The project plans to renovate and repurpose a total of five spatial units in the zone of 1,264.82 m2 of net usable area. The renovation main mission is equipping business and administrative office space and presentation area for the needs of maintaining the activities of the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar (ICUA Zadar), both for the employees and for visitors as most of the new capacities will be opened to the public as educational, exhibition and presentation place. Interactive and educational workshops for children will be held in the new premises to boost knowledge dissemination and foster creativity and skills. It is intended to engage an external expert who will create, cooperating with the Centre's experts, a development strategy for future educational and creative contents.
